The project - MINE: Migrant Initiatives for Northeast is specifically conceptualized for the migrant youths of Northeast seeking better opportunities in Goa. It is a humble effort of the MSMHC through FDEWS to bring together the disintegrated force, linking the Source and the Destination and aspiring for a dignified life of the individuals and that of their family with the aim to curbing the menace of human trafficking and loss of lives.
We are seeking applications from candidates for one of our multi-state projects currently in Goa and Mizoram (later to be scaled to other Northeastern states).
Job Title: Transit Facilitation Centre Coordinator cum Counsellor (TFCCC)

Role Description:
The Transit Facilitation Centre Coordinator cum Counsellor is responsible for managing the Transit Facilitation Centre (TFCCC) in the source states and ensuring that potential migrants receive accurate information, psychosocial support, safe migration guidance, and access to essential services. The role is central to preventing unsafe migration, reducing vulnerability, and strengthening resilience among youth preparing to migrate to Goa or other destinations.
The coordinator cum Counsellor acts as the first point of contact for potential migrants and their families, providing counselling, documentation support, risk assessment, and referral services. The role also ensures smooth coordination with government departments, church institutions, employers, and service providers.
Key Tasks and Deliverables:
• Oversee day to day functioning of the Transit Facilitation Centre.
• Ensure the centre is accessible, safe, youth friendly, and equipped with required materials.
• Maintain records of all walks ins, counselling sessions, referrals, and service uptake.
• Coordinate logistics for training, awareness sessions, and orientation programs.
• Provide individual and group counselling to potential migrants and youth in distress.
• Conduct pre migration counselling covering risks, rights, safe migration pathways, and coping strategies.
• Offer psychosocial support to youth rescued from unsafe situations or returning from Goa.
• Identify cases requiring specialized mental health intervention and refer them appropriately.
• Guide youth on documentation (ID cards, certificates, employment papers).
• Provide accurate information on job opportunities, working conditions, and risks in Goa.
• Conduct risk assessments for potential migrants and advise families on safe migration practices.
• Coordinate with the Destination team to verify job placements, employer details, and safety conditions.
• Liaise with faith-based institutions, youth groups, village leaders, and community based organizations.
• Coordinate with government departments (Labour, Social Welfare, Women & Child, Youth Skilling) for entitlements.
• Build linkages with training centres, placement agencies, and service providers.
• Maintain communication with the Destination team for follow up of migrants.
• Prepare monthly reports on counselling, migration trends, vulnerabilities, and referrals.
• Document case studies, distress cases, and successful safe migration stories.
• Maintain updated databases of potential migrants, rescued youth, and families counselled.
• Support the Project Coordinator in preparing donor reports.
Qualifications and Competencies:
• Master’s/ bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counselling, Sociology, or related fields.
• 2–5 years of experience in counselling, migration support, youth development, or community work.
• Training in counselling, trauma care, or psychosocial support preferred.
• Fluency in English and at least one Northeastern language (Mizo, Manipuri, Nagamese, Khasi, etc.).
• Ability to work with vulnerable youth, survivors of exploitation, and distressed families.
• Strong counselling and active listening skills.
• Crisis management and trauma informed care.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse tribes and communities.
• Documentation discipline and digital literacy.
• Stakeholder engagement and coordination abilities.
• Understanding of migration dynamics, human trafficking risks, and labour rights.
Remuneration/Package/Benefits:
Maximum limit up to 25000/- per month based on experience
